Welcome to my October 2017 options and dividend income post. Hopefully, all of you had dividend treats instead of dividend tricks this in October. For me it was a treat. October isn’t a huge dividend income month for me. But, I was able to set a new October record. This marks the 10th record month in a row! After last month where I set a personal dividend income record, this month’s bounty feels a little light. In this monthly post, I share dividend income, options income, and Lending Club income.
I earned $558.86 in dividend income. Comparing October 2016 dividend income to 2017, I earned $105.94 more in dividends this year.
I also closed 4 options contracts, which earned me another $286.30. Lastly, I earned $44.93 in Lending Club interest. My total August income from these sources is $890.39.
I set a 2017 goal of $7,500 in dividend income and $7,500 in options income. I’m ahead of my dividend income goal, but falling behind on my options income goal. There are two reasons for this. First, I haven’t invested the time needed to properly research the options market. If I had more time, I’d sell and close more contracts on a monthly basis and likely earn more revenue. Second, there’s hasn’t much volatility in the options marketplace. Q1 as great. Q2 & Q3 were really flat. Q4 is starting out with higher premiums. I’m pretty sure, I won’t reach this goal.
My current 2017 dividend income is $6,823. I’m $676 dollars shy of the $7,500 target. I will pass $7,500 in December. My current 2017 options income is $5,317. I’m $2,183 dollars short of the $7,500 target. I will need to average $1,092 in November and December to reach the goal.
I’ve been really busy at the office and work travel has increased. This has reduced the amount of time that I’m able to blog, and research options. Also, I’ve been focusing much more on Cryptocurrencies. Avoiding Bitcoin for the most part, but that was a mistake. If you want to buy Bitcoin, read this article. Act soon, and you could get free coins on the next Coinbase Hard Fork.
October Dividend Income
I was paid dividends from 13 sources. My largest dividend income came from Starwood Property Trust, followed by Philip Morris. My 2017 dividend income totals by month can be found on my Dividend Tracker page.
August Options Income
I closed four contracts in October, 2covered calls and 2cash-secured puts. Total income after expenses was $286.30.
I have two options coming due this month and they are upside down. I’ll need to make a decision over the next 14-days to either lose some quality shares or close and carry these contracts. My annual options income by month can be found on my Options Tracker. Below, is a screenshot of all of my open contracts.
