Happy Labor Day weekend everyone. I hope you’re all enjoying the extra few days off that this holiday provides. Long weekends are a great way to visualize what life will be like when we reach FI.

I assume everyday feels like a Saturday when you don’t need to worry about going to work.CLICK TO TWEET

My dividend income this month beat my year-over-year record. However, due to a large stock selloff, my annual dividend growth is not as impressive as it has been in previous months. My stock selloff guaranteed that I won’t reach my 2016 goal of earning $7,500 in dividends. I’m fine with this. I will make more money selling options the last 4 months of 2016. I expect that my dividend income will total $5,500 this year. Hopefully my options income will come in around $5,000 this year. Added together, my new forecast for total 2016 income (dividends and options), is $10,500.

My Dividend Income

This past month, my dividend income totaled $330.72. My dividend income for the year is $4,211.92.

My dividend income came from 11 stocks in my portfolio. My average dividend per company was $30.07 The largest dividend payout came from Omega Health Investors.

Note – Shares with zero next to them are stocks that I sold the last month. I sold more stocks than shown above, but the stocks listed were past their Ex. Date. This means I was still paid a dividend even though I sold the underlying stock.

My Dividend Income – August Year-Over-Year

The chart below tracks my monthly dividends earned on a year-over-year basis. 2014 numbers are in blue. 2015 numbers are in red. 2016 numbers are orange. As shown, my dividend income this August did increase year-over-year, but at a slower pace.

The chart below is a different view of my dividend income year-over-year. It’s a good visual of the my dividend growth journey. As shown, I finally passed my 2015 dividend income! Over the past 3-years, my July dividend income has gone up from $88.64 to $330.72.

Overall Income

A few months ago I started tracking my overall income, not just dividends I had another fantastic income month. Here’s the past two months, plus August.
