Adios 2017. What an amazing year it was. Personally and professionally, 2017 turned out to be one of the best for me. I’ve entered 2018 with the stamina and drive of a 18-year-old. I crushed my goals this past year. This year, I’m not looking back. I’m pushing toward new mental, financial, physical and emotional heights.
2018 will be my best year to date! I hope you’re all as excited about your life as I am of mine.
2017 Goals Review
I set 6 goals for 2017, four financial goals and two personal goals. I’m very happy with my final results.
Goal 1 – Invest $50k in new capital to my retirement accounts
Result – Completed. I ended up investing a few hundred thousand dollars, thanks to Bitcoin.
Goal 2 – Lose weight. Enter 2018 below 200 pounds.
Result – Completed. I weighed in on 12/31/2017 at 183 pounds. I actually crushed my goal of 195. Now for the first time in my life, I’m trying to gain weight. 😉
Goal 3 – Invest $10,000 into an investment vehicle outside of the stock market.
Result – Completed. I crushed this goal too. I planned on investing $10k into Lending Club at a rate of $2,500 a quarter. I did invest $5,000. But, when I saw more and more loans default, I looked for a new investment vehicle.
I invested in cryptocurrencies, and I haven’t looked back. I invested a few thousand dollars into Coinbase. From this initial investment, I’ve traded my way to a portfolio that dwarfs my dividend stock portfolio.
Goal 4 – Earn $7,500 in options income.
Result – Failed. I would’ve completed this goal, but I chose not to. I saw much more opportunity in bitcoin. I stopped researching, trading and monitoring options in November to focus on the study of blockchain tech. I came close to the goal by capturing $7,105 in options income.
Goal 5 – Earn $7,500 in dividend income.
Result – Completed. I crushed this goal. My final dividend income total for 2017 is $8,875.
Goal 6 – Take my wife on two trips.
Result – Completed. New York City, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Al work trips, but we took a few days extra to send together. Best part about a work trip is that I really only have to pay for her airfare.
2018 and Beyond
All in all, it was a great year for me and my portfolio. I’ve shifted my focus almost entirely on the cryptocurrency marketplace. I am however, still invested in many dividend income stocks. I expect to earn more than $11,500 in dividend income this year. Option trading is mostly on hold for now. I may pick it up again at some point in 2018.
Soon, I’ll be launching a few new projects and blogs focused on Bitcoin, Altcoins, ICOs, and Cryptocurrency Exchanges.
Keep pushing toward FIRE everyone. I wish all of you the best of luck in 2018.
