I’m always on the hunt for new sites and services that I can harness to make my blog better. I’d heard of fiverr before but none of my friends had used it. Online reviews of fiverr are positive. I generally don’t trust online reviews. Take a look at Yelp and Amazon and you will find tons of fake reviews. I know what you’re thinking, this guy doesn’t trust reviews and he’s writing a review. Well, this is not a review. This is a blog post where I’m sharing my experience with fiverr. I’m not a fiverr affiliate and I stand to gain nothing by endorsing this service.

I’ve wanted to redesign my site logo and social media backgrounds. When I started talking to designers and researching online design companies, it became clear to me that it was going to cost me anywhere between $250 and $1,000 for a logo. Adding in social media backgrounds and my price would have been closer to $750 to $2,000.

Fiverr Introduction

What is fiverr? Started in 2009, fiverr is a global online marketplace of freelancers offering tasks and services, beginning at a cost of $5 per job performed, from which it gets its name. fiverr lists more than three million services on the site that range in price between $5 and $500. There’s a good range of services; from graphic design to SEO optimization.

What I Hired Fiverr To Create

I hired a graphic designer to design two logos. There were thousands of designers offering logo creation services starting at $5. I read a bunch site reviews and looked at designers sample work. When I found a designer I liked, I paid $10 for two logos. I could have paid $5, but I wanted to see two design options.

After I requested the work, I was sent an email, stating that my designer would get back to me in 24-hours. I was then send an email asking me for more info. I was asked questions about my site topic, colors to use and avoid, etc. I decided to not answer any questions. I emailed a link of my website URL to my designer and instructed him to be creative and stick to my site color scheme.

I didn’t have to wait 24-hours. In fact, I was emailed two logos in less than 5 hours. The designer and I shared a few emails and after two iterations my logos were complete. Here’s what the two logos look like.

Fiverr Additional Services

Five dollars is the entry price for many stripped down services. I liked my new logo so I decided to hire the same designer to create social media backgrounds for my Facebook, Twitter, and Google + pages. Having these created cost $50 dollars.

My Fiverr Assets

In total I received two logos and 4 social media backgrounds. The fourth background is for Tumblr. I don’t have a Tumblr presence yet, but now that I have a cool background I’ll likely create an Investment Hunting Tumblr page.

Fiverr Takeaways

I’m very impressed with the service I received and the speed in which my project was completed. All told, it took less than 3-days to get new logos and background pages. Since this first fiverr project was a success I hired another freelancer. I hired an SEO expert for $10. This expert will deliver a detailed SEO analysis of my site which includes a sampling of 5 keywords I’m ranking for. The report will give me info on what I need to do to increase page rank for these keywords. I haven’t received the report yet. I’ll write a follow-up shortly.

If you are looking for a service to create logos or any assets for your site, I highly recommend fiverr. I’m not saying that fiverr created me the most fantastic logo and backgrounds of all-time. But, for a $60 fee, I’m ecstatic with my results.

What do you think of my new logo and new social media backgrounds? Have you ever used fiverr or similar services? If yes, what was your experience?
